About Us

MISSION STATEMENT: Our mission is to improve the quality of life in our regional community by reducing hunger and providing access to food and basic necessities through collaborations with local businesses and citizens.

Freetown Regional Food Pantry

The Freetown Regional Food Pantry began in November 2020 and was created to feed families and individuals impacted by the Covid-19 Pandemic during the holiday season.

A group of concerned citizens, town officials from Freetown and Berkley, the Freetown-Berkley Business Cooperative, the Freetown-Lakeville School District, and Stop and Shop organized the initial food distributions which took place at the Freetown Elementary School.

In partnership with Stop and Shop, the Food Pantry has succeeded at its mission of providing food and personal products to needy residents on the Southcoast. The generosity and continued support of Stop and Shop cannot be understated, and the Food Pantry is extremely grateful for their support!

Recognizing a continuing need to address issues surrounding food scarcity in the Southcoast (beyond Covid-19), the Food Pantry was organized with a Board of Directors and is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit entity.

In partnership with the Town of Freetown and with permission of the Freetown Board of Selectmen, the Food Pantry moved into the old Freetown Police Station, which has become its new home.

The Food Pantry is open two days per week and serves a population of hundreds of Southcoast residents every week. No income verification is required to utilize the services of the Food Pantry. The Pantry is staffed for distributions by a core group of volunteers who help unload the trucks, stock the shelves, and run the program. The Food Pantry has received tremendous help from students at the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District and a core group of dedicated volunteers who make the Food Pantry a reality!

If you would like to help, please contact us by phone or connect to the Pantry through the volunteer button on the website’s homepage.

The Freetown Regional Food Pantry is under the direction of a committed Board of Directors who meet weekly on Thursdays and oversee the Food Pantry operations.
